What personal data I collect and why I collect it

Website Contact Form

When you contact me using the contact form I store your data on our webserver (and ultimately my email browser). This allows me to respond to enquiries or requests for work.
You may be providing me with information such as :
· Your email address
· Your name, address and contact telephone number

Cookie Policy

I collect anonymous statistical data gathered (specifically by Google Analytics). The data is generated by cookies-these are text files that are placed on your computer when you visit the pages of my website. There are also cookies that while necessary to the functionality of the security and administration of my site have no bearing or implications on your usage and the functionality of the site. When you first visit jamesbignell.co.uk you are given the opportunity to selectively ‘opt -out’ of interacting with them. You can also disable cookies via your web browser (Internet Explorer, Chrome, Firefox, Safari) -please refer to their instructions on how to do this.

Google Analytics Tracking Cookies

I use Google Analytics tracking to help me understand how visitors use the website (what pages they like.) The data is purely used in an aggregate way and the data is completely anonymous-you will never be personally identified from this data.

Embedded content from other websites

Articles on this site may include embedded content (e.g. videos, images, articles, etc.). Embedded content from other websites behaves in the exact same way as if the visitor has visited the other website. These websites may collect data about you, use cookies, embed additional third-party tracking, and monitor your interaction with that embedded content, including tracing your interaction with the embedded content if you have an account and are logged in to that website.

How long We retain your data

If you leave a comment or contact me via email, the comment and its metadata are retained indefinitely. The visitor statistics data gathered for us by google Analaytics is also retained indefinitely. This is so we can recognize and approve any follow-up comments automatically instead of holding them in a moderation queue as well as making the website better for our visitors.

Who we share your data with

I will never share or sell any data on to third party companies or organisations. I am committed not only to the letter of the law, but also to the spirit of the law. I place the highest values on the correct, lawful and fair handling of all personal data, respecting the legal rights, privacy and trust of all individuals with whom it deals.

What rights you have over your data

If you have contacted me via email you can request to receive an exported file of the personal data I hold about you, including any data you have provided to me. You can also request that I erase any personal data I hold about you. This does not include any data I am  obliged to keep for administrative, legal, or security purposes.

Where I send your data

Your email data is stored on my webserver while your visitor statistics data is stored with Google who then share it with me.

This privacy policy was last updated on 27 May 2018.
We may make changes to it from time to time. We will publish any material or significant changes either through a notice on our website or through other communication channels as appropriate.
